Charlestown Five Cent Savings Bank

Place: Charlestown Five Cent Savings Bank
Address: 1 Thompson Square
Neighborhood: Charlestown

Walking up Charlestown's Main Street on June 26, 2012, I arrived at Thompson Square and the site of the Orange Line's Charlestown Elevated station site of the same name. A notable structure here is the old Charlestown Five Cent Savings Bank.
To visit the Charlestown Five Cent Savings Bank, ride the Orange Line to Community College and walk towards Thompson Square. Another way is to get here is by riding bus route 92 to Thompson Square.

"When it was constructed in 1876, this bank was the most important commercial building in Charlestown. It was designed by the firm Moffette and Tolman in the High Victorian Gothic Style. The building also housed Charlestown's Masonic Lodge on its top three floors."
